Making Things Clear!

After I received an email from Geoff asking me about this song, I want to post on the blog a brief explanation so that this is clear to everyone!

"Life on Mars?" sung by Georgia Mancio was written by Seu Jorge (soundtrack of Wies Anderson's comedy; "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou") - is an authorized cover of David Bowie's song "Life on Mars".

do I need text on the clip? have her name, and the song?
is it necessary? kind of like MTV or VH1 - but the thing is the, for example, already have their own "template" to insert the author and song titles...

i'm a bit confused if I need it or not.

I was thinking of foucusing on the house or street and Georgia's name and the song's title would appear

or

foucusing on the house, after the sun goes down, and the house lightens up. maybe she can be inside.... and then the lights inside the house go off. leaving the screen dark.

Just an idea!

This is just an idea of how it will look! It was keyed very fast while on set, just to make sure the angles and lighting were correct! But it is looking good so far! I'll post some filmes very soon!

Greenscreen filming!

I've done some green screen work before, and a couple of video-based works, however it was the first time I worked with the proper equipment! It was an amazing experience to actually have high-end material. I hired an HD camera and a proper green screen from a professional place. Alex (photography) allowed me too use the lighting during a Saturday and with my laptop and sound system Olly and I transformed the Casket space into an amazing (almost professional) studio!

On his birthday, my dear friend Olly spend his day helping me out with the shoot! Which, by the way, went really well! Olly, I can't thank you enough! I hope one day we will be art-directing an amazing high-production side by side again!

ok. everything ALMOST ready! I am shooting the green screen this Saturday @ college from 10 to 3pm!
if anyone want to drop by, it will be great! help is always welcome!

camera - not yet confirmed I can get the college one, but I have a back up plan, a professional place in Soho that rents them, so if something goes wrong with the college one, I can get it in Soho on Friday.
green screen - I'm buying it from a place Alex told me, getting it Friday as well

the room .... I still need to get a response from Alan Graham to confirm exactly what room in college I can use, but since its going to be on a Saturday I am pretty confident I won't have a problem!

Paper Town

Ok. Town almost ready! Now, before i start the stop motion I will do it all in one piece of paper, instead of various smaller pieces, this way it will look better and cleaner!

there are elements like the bus and the car, basicly the moving elements, that will not be cut-out from the original bigger paper

Hey guys after many days of cutting paper i have some pictures to show!

mostly from my process and desk, but I think that you can get a feel from whats going on.... the next stop-motion test i will only have once I get the cut-outs working exactly as I want them too, because its a lot of work to do them and not be perfect!

idea for albums cover

I am researching ways to integrate the video-clip idea to the albums cover. Hence I thought of using an extra sleeve to cut GM's name creating the same visual aspect created during the animation.

the font is not yet final, I am still working on her logo.

it is not necessarly part of my project I just thought it would be nice to have everything produced...

Music-Video tests

For the music video I will create a town out of white paper cut-outs in stop-motion animation. Once that is done, I will shoot the singer and the percussionist on green screen and place them on the clip walking around the town and interacting with the elements.

another idea was to introduce text on the paper-cut outs; they would be unreadable, but as if the cut-outs were coming out from the album's insert.

My Blog is Back! finally.....

After a bit of a misunderstanding with my client - who asked me to delete my blog - my blog is back! The only agreement we got is I wont publish her music, as it is not yet right-protected and won't mention her name.

just a reminder:
I'm working with a jazz musician. She is British, a very young talent, has won the best young British singer award last year. Her new album comes out this summer, under the name "Trapeze", and I am responsible for creating a music video for one of the songs, which we chose together and will be "Life on Mars" by Seu Jorge. Seu Jorge made a version of David Bowie's song "Life on Mars" for the film "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)" where he not only made the soundtrack but acted as well.
